The weather was kind for this year's Village Clean Up Day on Saturday 25th March.

Approximately 20 adults and 15 members of the Flare Youth Club took part and the whole village was covered. The young people were treated to a cone of chips from the village chip shop as a reward. Their efforts can be seen with the pile of full sacks outside of Bitham Hall. These sacks were later taken to Higher Road where a total of nearly 40 bags were placed to next to the litter bin awaiting collection by Sedgemoor District Council. Stuart Smith kindly engaged with the Youth Club to encourage the young people to take part.

A number of larger items were found and the District Council will collect these later and also do a blitz of the verges in Cossington Lane which were found to be particularly badly affected by litter.

The Parish Council would like to thank the District Council for a loan of litter pickers, Hi-Viz jackets and bags
