CITIZEN OF THE YEAR 2022
Since coming to Woolavington, this person he has contributed in many ways to the village. He is a driver for Village wheels. Is also ready at short notice to help with transport for friends and those in need. During the pandemic he looked after several vulnerable persons, doing shopping and providing support.
He was appointed to the Parish Council representing the South Ward and was subsequently elected to represent the Council on the Village Hall Management Committee becoming Chairman. In that capacity he has headed up a review of practices and fabric resulting in an application for Hallmark status being awarded Level 2.
With the support of the Parish Council, he and his wife have been responsible for setting up the fortnightly coffee mornings/afternoons - a free event available to the those who may be feeling isolated and needing company. In addition to setting out the lounge with tables and chairs they provide tea and coffee, homemade cake and also transport.
In the wider community he is a member of the Friends of Bridgwater Hospital helping at fundraising events and responsible for publicity.
He played a major part in the delivery of the hugely successful recent Jubilee celebrations in the Village.
His energy and enthusiasm are much appreciated and make him a worthy candidate for Citizen of the Year award.
