The Woolavington Citizen of the Year for 2021 was announced at the Village Show on 14th August.

The citation read "This person took over as President of Woolavington WI in 2019. She has kept meetings going via Zoom during Covid restrictions for those with computers and provided printed newsletters for the others. There have been photo competitions, games afternoons, knit and stitch all on line and goody bags for Christmas and Easter.

She visits those who are on their own and has set up regular phone calls by the committee to those who needed them. All in all she embodies what the WI should be. Fellowship, inclusivity and caring.

She has done and continues to do shopping for those either unable or reluctant to venture out and together with her husband they are both active in the work of Friends of Bridgwater Hospital.

She is a real asset to the village.

The Citizen of the Year for 2021 is Doris Marsh"
